A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since March of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour title, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent rescued four early opportunities in a tight final set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
