Flight operations have resumed at Scotland's primary international airport after a substantial air traffic control outage grounded all flights.

All incoming and outgoing flights were stopped after an systems problem that arose around 08:30.

A number of travelers reported being stuck in jets at the stand as the outage continued.

Services Recommence with Continued Disruption

A statement indicated at 10:40 that services were back online, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "cooperation and patience".

However, significant disruption are expected to persist for some time. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been cancelled, with a host of additional flights experiencing delays.

Officials had initially projected that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be affected.

"Passengers are advised to check directly with their airline for the most up-to-date details on their booked journeys," the statement added.

Root of the Disruption

The airport attributed the full ground stop to an IT issue with its air traffic control provider.

Passengers are still being urged to confirm the details of their flight before heading to the terminal as backlogs are cleared.
