Thomas Tuchel Criticizes Wembley Fan Atmosphere Following Emphatic Win Over Wales.

The England head coach expressed his sadness that the Three Lions team did not get stronger backing from the home fans during their impressive triumph over Wales on Thursday evening.

Tuchel was satisfied to see his team maintain their good form, with finishes from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Bukayo Saka inside the initial stages settling the match. However, he was displeased with the energy at the national stadium.

“We had one and a half training days to get ready against a drilled team and we performed excellently,” Tuchel stated. “It could have been five goals ahead at half-time. We couldn’t score the additional ones. The stadium was silent. We didn’t get support from the crowd. Our team gave their all to win.”

“How much more can you provide in the first quarter? We didn’t let them get away. When you only hear just the Welsh supporters for 30 minutes, it’s disappointing because the squad earned more support today.”

“I support my words. We cannot do more than being 3-0 in a rivalry match. I would have wished for a little more backing in periods where it is challenging.”

“In the second half, to cheer us on, there was a bit too much backing for the opposition. It could have helped us to regain energy, but that’s football and so be it.”

Squad Decisions Justified by Display

Away from risking a fight with fans, the manager also caused a stir by omitting Bellingham and Foden from his squad. But the choice was justified by Rogers impressing again in the No 10 position and getting his first international goal.

“He is what he is,” Tuchel said. “He operates as an attacking midfielder and he is competing for his place.”

Bellamy Seeks Improvement from Loss

The Wales manager hopes that his team, who host Belgium in a crucial World Cup qualifier on Monday, take lessons from their poor performance in the opening period.

“That’s the reason I scheduled this match,” Bellamy said. “I wanted to assess our current level. Where do we want to go? What is our identity? Today fills me with drive.”

Injury Concern for Watkins

Watkins was taken off at half-time after clattering into a post and is a concern when the national team play their next opponents in Riga in a World Cup qualifying match on next week.
