Unveiling an Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces on a Quest to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have encountered plenty of engaging creations from small studios. Yet, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game lets you play a character that is literally a piece of poop attempting to travel to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."
The gameplay is easy to grasp: just use a one button to leap. In one hundred fifty stages, battle boss fights and access a store to purchase outfits for your dung hero.
Plan your actions carefully, since one wrong move requires restarting the level. Leap using air pockets to hurl the poop upward, cross disappearing platforms, and interact with buttons to reveal secret routes. Collect UN-KOINS to purchase more difficult levels where the action gets crazy.
Visually, the demo shows off eye-catching environments and catchy soundtrack. Its minimalist visual style featuring moving basic polygons could recall gamers of classic titles like Earthbound.
While it's tough to name similar titles where you control a dung character, gaming frequently included scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, players make throwables from protagonist excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as plant food. Naturally, this theme appears a lot in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already earned impressive recognition, like taking top honors at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is accessible currently on Steam, with the complete version planned to arrive on Steam this November.
